I was born and raised in California, in a tiny town named Calipatria. I started tattooing back in 1995, and moved out of my Valley to seek adventure and a life change in San Diego in 1999. Tattooing was finally a real career for me when I moved to a small apartment in the City Hieghts neighborhood. A small tattoo shop was opening "Fun House Tattoos" and I had to try and get in there. Sadly the last spot had just been taken, but I was invited to come and hang out. Shorty after an opportunity to save some money by moving to Indio, CA. Riverside County, I had to make the difficult decision to leave San Diego and move back to the desert it was now the year 2000. I was lucky to find a tattoo shop near my house that was just opening and fortunately was hiring "After Hours Tattoo". A year later I was offered a spot back in San Diego, and I quickly made my move back. I was now the head artist at a tattoo shop named "The Black Hole" from 2001-2002 and loved every minute of it. It was very hood and full of colorful characters, I made a ton of memorable friends there. I thought I knew it all and had it made till by bad luck the owner got mixed up with the wrong crowd and the shop failed. I took a short break beacuse it was all way too fast paced.
Thats when I met my official mentor, Brent Severson. I worked with him at Classic Tattoo in Miramar rd. till 2003 when the Santa Ana winds started the devastating Cedar fires in San Diego. We were devastated because the whole city simply stopped. We were unable to open for far too long and the rent was quite high. We had to once again reset, I told myself after working with Brent and picking up so much knowledge from him, my next move should be to find another bad ass that I could pick up more game from. I then moved to East County in the City of El Cajon and looked for the shop with the best reputation and found a shop by the name of "Color Bomb" I worked there till 2004. Although the artists there were extremely skilled the picking's were tight and not enough foot traffic rolled in. I took a break and worked on my abilites and focused on traveling to conventions and guest spots. finally earning my very first award in 2006. This time I wanted to prove I knew what I was doing and found a shop with one of the worst reputations "Body Art". I figured if I could make it here I could make it anywhere. I met Sean Stahl and he was seeking a piercing apprenticeship, It took a lot of hard work and convincing but I was able to bring Brent along together with Matt Williams we made that shop the spot to go too and elevated it to the shop with the best reputation in all of East County.
I made the mistake of trying something different as Brent had moved to Wisconsin I wanted to try out Indiana. Boy was that a mistake. I was talked into a business partnership and I finally got whopped by reality, there is a time and place. Sadly "R.H. Tattoo" failed and only lasted 8 months alive my partner never showed up to the shop once. He just wanted me to teach his crew what I knew. The crew were a buch of nice folks that eventually also seen how that partner was and also left him alone. I moved back to San Diego and opened up my very first spot on my own it was now 2009 and I was on a mission.
I opened La Mancha Tattooz and kept stacking awards, I was traveling to all the conventions I could hit and sometimes I was out of town up to three times a month five days at a time. Two years later we were fortunate enough to win the prestigious award of "Best Tattoo shop in San Diego'. three years in a row. through out the years Ive made a ton of friends an taught great people how to tattoo passing on the little knowledge I can share.
I moved to Texas in 2016 and kept my shop in San Diego.
After settling in I was asked if I would open in Texas and at first I was hesitant till I found the location I thought would be great place for a shop. I decided to open "La Mancha Tattoo Texas" (McAllenTattoos) and I couldn't be any happier. in 2020 I closed the San Diego location and knew for certain Texas was now home.
I traveled everywhere went over seas and I attended a ton of conventions all the guest spots I'll save for another day.
